Useful Tips

Useful TipsDear visitor,

We would like to provide you with some useful tips for your forthcoming visit.

Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is the largest city in Vietnam, lively and bustling with around 9 million people. Upon landing, you will find immigration and customs procedures to be smooth and fast. Tan Son Nhat airport is 7 km from downtown. You may already change some money at the airport. The current exchange rate is about 23,300 Vietnam Dong/US dollar. The US dollar is the most widely used foreign currency, but Euros are also generally accepted. Do bring along sufficient cash to start with, later on you may use your credit card (all major credit cards are in use, travellers cheques can also be changed at the main banks and hotels).

October is the final month of Ho Chi Minh City’s wet season, meaning that you can expect a decline in rainfall, as well as a slight decrease in overall temperature and humidity. In October, temperatures drop slightly compared to September, with an average low of 76°F (24.4°C) and a high of 87°F (30.6°C). Taxis are plentiful and reasonable in price, go by the meter, you are not expected to leave a tip. The LifeStyle Vietnam 2024 team will provide you with information on what to do and where to go in and around HCMC, but you may also get useful guidance from your hotel or from the official  Government Tourist Agency SAIGONTOURIST.

International telephone calls cost about 9,000 VN Dong (0.45 USD) per minute plus your hotel charge. HCMC abounds with tourist sites: HCMC People’s Committee Building (City Hall), Central Post Office, ReunificationPalace, a great number of museums, pagodas (to worship Lord Buddha) and temples (to worship national or local heroes and deities), markets (Ben Thanh central market and numerous street markets).

One of the delights of visiting Vietnam is its amazing cuisine – there are said to be 500 different traditional dishes – you will never have to look very far for superb food at reasonable prices. Another delight will be shopping for all kinds of handicrafts, clothing, gems and jewels, many other types of souvenirs, etc.

We very much look forward to welcoming you soon to Vietnam and LifeStyle Vietnam 2024 and  wish you an excelllent travel from your home country to Ho Chi Minh City.
